Rules and Best Practices

Welcome to our page dedicated to the rules and best practices of our 3D jewelry agency. Following these standards allows us to ensure quality and customer satisfaction. We are always open to listening to special requests and considering exceptions.

Spacing and Thickness

Stones must have a minimum clearance of 0.5mm from the culet to the finger rail.

We recommend a minimum shank thickness of 1.2mm – 1.7mm, considering that production can remove up to 0.2mm of metal.

  • Design elements and scroll work should have a minimum metal thickness of 0.5mm and should overlap each other by 0.15mm to strengthen the design integrity.
  • All openings in a design should be a minimum of 0.4mm to avoid being filled in during casting.

Prong Setting

  • The prong must overlap the girdle of the stone, but the seat for the stone should not cut any deeper than 25% of the prong.
  • Typically, the culet of the stone is visible above the bottom gallery rail.
  • The base of the prong dome should align with the table of the stone.
  • The minimum distance needed between the gallery rails is 0.4mm.

The pavilion of the gem should barely rest on the surface of the rail.
